X Factor twins 'have nits'

X Factor twins John and Edward Grimes may be dividing the nation with their performances on the show – but it seems their popularity in the house is going downhill following rumours they’re infested with head lice.

Contestants started itching before this weekend's show and the brothers from Ireland are the main suspects. A source told The Sun: "The nits situation is the talk of the house – it's absolutely horrible.

"Contestants fear it's spreading around the whole house and all are blaming John and Edward. The contestants reckon their quiffs are so greasy and long anything could grow in them."

Alarm bells started ringing when Olly Murs started complaining of an itchy scalp – which made the other contestants paranoid.

The source added: "Olly has been going on and on about it. His fears then made Stacey worry and she has been scratching her scalp constantly since then."

The insider added: "While the situation is not very nice, it's hardly surprising – nits are fairly common among teenagers and there are so many young people sharing hair products and brushes."

It's not been a good few days for the Dublin duo, known as “Jedward”, who were labelled "tone deaf" by Simon Cowell. But Simon did give the pair a back-handed compliment.

He told them: "I credit you with tenacity. You've stayed in the competition, you're thick-skinned. But you cannot defend that singing."

Bookie William Hill has now slashed Jedward's odds of winning The X Factor from 150/1 at the beginning of the series to 10/1. Olly Murs is 5/2 favourite followed by Joseph McElderry at 7/2.
